Hartford is the capital of Connecticut and is one of the oldest cities in America. This city boasts its history, which includes the nation's oldest public art museum and oldest publicly funded park. It is also, famously, the home town of the great Mark Twain. Hartford is also home to great industry and is nicknamed the “Insurance Capital of the World,“ due to the many insurance companies that claim it as their headquarters.

Hartford's metropolitan area is also thriving. It was ranked very highly both in total economic production and in per capita income. With such a combination of history and industry, Hartford demands a big banking industry as well. For individuals and families who live in the Hartford area and for those who are visiting for business or leisure, they are sure to find all of their banking needs fulfilled.

Hartford is not only a major hub for headquartering an insurance company, there are an astounding number of financial institutions, which are headquartered in this city as well. This includes more than 35 banks and 80 credit unions. Among those banks that have headquarters in Hartford, some of the more notable institutions include United Bank, Farmington Bank, Webster Bank, Liberty Bank, and Connecticut State Employees.
