Located in the heart of central Alabama, Montgomery is the state capital, and rich with history and culture. Voted Best Historic City by USA Today and Top City for Job Growth in 2014, it is no wonder that so many businesses thrive there.
Twenty-one banks are headquartered in Montgomery, including notables such as MAX Credit Union, River Bank and Trust, CCB Community Bank, First Community Bank of Central Alabama and Troy Bank and Trust. There are approximately two hundred and seventy bank branches located in the metropolitan area, including several banks based outside of Alabama. Among them are Wells Fargo and Synovus.
The oldest active bank in Montgomery is Robertson Banking Company. Founded in 1870, it operated under the name of its founders, Daniel F. Prout and John R. Robertson, until their deaths in 1903. It was then renamed the Robertson Banking Company and still is in operation today, with multiple branches spread across central and western Alabama.
