Nestled in Iowa's Wapello County, Ottumwa has a population of about 25,000 people. Despite being a small city, it has been the site of several presidential visits, including from Benjamin Harrison, Theodore Roosevelt, Richard Nixon, and Barack Obama. John Deere is one of the City's largest employers, but it also boasts a small financial industry.
The City's oldest continually active bank is State Central Bank, which was established in 1858. Since then, Ottumwa's financial industry has grown to include seven credit unions and nearly 40 banks that have opened approximately 90 branches throughout the area. The City is also headquarters to 20 banks and six credit unions, among them such reputable institutions as Community 1St CU of Iowa and the Bank of Kirksville. Also headquartered in Ottumwa are South Ottumwa Savings Bank, Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri, and The Libertyville Savings Bank.
