4.50% Money Market 4-Month Promotion and CD Specials at a New Jersey CU (United Teletech Financial)

POSTED ON BY

Update 4/26/08: This special has ended. Please check with the bank for the latest specials and rates.

United Teletech Financial FCU is offering a money market promotion that guarantees a 4.50% APY on balances of $25,000 and over for 4 months. Initial minimum deposit is $25,000, and this must be money new to the credit union.

I last reported on this credit union in February regarding its special CD rates. The rates have gone down since then, but the specials are still competitive. The special CDs include a 4.25% APY 4-month and 36-month CD and a 4.00% APY 8-month CD. The 36-month CD requires a $20,000 minimum. The other two only have a $500 minimum, but they require a United or eUreka! Checking Relationship. Similar specials are available as an IRA certificate. The 4 and 8 month IRA CD yields are the same as the regular CDs. The 36-month IRA CD has a yield of 4.85% APY. There's also a 16-month IRA CD special with a yield of 4.85% APY.

Field of membership includes those who live, work, worship or attend school in Monmouth County, Ocean County and parts of central Middlesex County. Membership requires a minimum deposit of $5 into a share savings account. An online application is available.

The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 18195). It has $250.5 million in assets and 19,487 members.

Thanks to the reader who mentioned this special in the finding-the-best-deals post.

They pulled this special a week or so ago (as of 4/25/08) according to one of their reps in the North Brunswick branch. I went to the branch today hoping to get this special and was disappointed. The internet link page to this special still exists--but the offer is gone.
