4.00% 15-Month / 4.25% 48-Month CD at a Florida Bank (Sunshine Savings).

Sunshine Savings Bank
Update 5/10/08: The CD rates have fallen. Please see the bank's website for the latest rates.

Sunshine Savings Bank has a CD promotion with a 4.00% APY 15-month CD and a 3.60% APY 9-month CD. The minimum deposit is $1,000. The bank also has some competitive long term rates. The yield for the 48-month and 60-month CDs is 4.25% APY for a $50,000 minimum deposit. IRA certificate yields include 4.00% APY for the 18-month, 4.25% APY for the 36-month and 4.50% APY for the 60-month.

My last report on this promotion was in January when it was offering a 4.90% 13-month CD.

When I contacted the bank last December, the banking rep said these could be opened by mail from any state. It requires that you send in notarized copies of you driver's license and social security card with the application. In January, a reader sent me an email saying that they can fax you the application. The bank's phone number is 800-468-3993. Note, small banks often change this policy so please keep this in mind if you decide to call.

Branches are located in the Florida cities of Tallahassee and Pembroke Pines which is located between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. The bank is FDIC insured (Certificate # 58452).

Other CD Deals

Indymac Bank still has its 4.15% APY 12-month CD, but it has ended this rate on its 18-month term. Alliant Credit Union still has 4.40% APY for a minimum deposit of $25,000 on terms from 12 to 17 months. For other CD deals, please refer to my Saturday's weekly rate recap.
