3.00% Reward Checking Account at a South Carolina Bank (Greer State Bank)

Greer State Bank is offering a reward checking account called eBonus Checking that pays 3.00% APY on balances up to $25,000 (1.55% for above) and refunds ATM fees nationwide without limit if the following monthly requirements are met: 1) 10 Visa Check Card transactions, 2) one automatic deposit or withdrawal by direct deposit or ACH, 3) remain active in the Online Banking system. The minimum opening deposit is $100.

It appears they require a branch visit to open accounts. Branches are located in the South Carolina cities of Greer and Taylors. The bank has been FDIC insured since 1989 (FDIC Certificate # 27413).

Greer State Bank has revamped its website. Rate sheet valid on 1/12/09 lists new yields: 4.00% APY up to $25K; 2.07% APY over $25K; 0.10% if requirements not met.
Note: flash and e-bonus checking links non-functional.

Rate table dated 2/1/09 list lower rates: 3.00% APY up to $25K; 1.55% over. Base rate same.
