Clarkston State Bank is offering a special 5.06% APY 6-month CD. The minimum deposit is $500. This is listed at the top of the bank's CD rate table.

It appears that a branch visit may be required to open new accounts. Branches are located in Waterford and Clarkston, Michigan which are located between Detroit and Flint.

The bank's financial ratings for soundness are weak: 1 star (troubled) at BauerFinancial and 1 star (lowest) at Bankrate.com. Both are based on 6/30/08 data. The bank has been FDIC insured since 1998 (FDIC Certificate # 34957).
