3.25% 13-Month CD & 3.00% 7-Month CD at Atlantic Southern Bank in GA & FL

Atlantic Southern Bank is offering two attractive CD specials: a 3.00% APY 7-month CD and a 3.25% APY 13-month CD. Minimum deosit is $500. These are also available as an IRA CDs. These rates are listed in the bank's rate table as of 2/24/09. Since the date above the table was a little old, I called and confirmed these rates are still available. The CSR did not know how long they would last.

A branch visit is required to open an account. Branches are located in the Georgia cities of Macon, Lizella, Roberta, Warner Robins, Byron, Bonaire, Savannah, Rincon, and Valdosta and in Jacksonville, Florida.

The bank has some fair ratings for safety and soundness: 4 stars (excellent) at BauerFinancial and 3 stars (performing) at Bankrate.com. These ratings are based on 9/30/08 financial data. The bank has been FDIC insured since 2001 (FDIC Certificate # 57213).
