World Series related CD specials were fairly popular this year. I reported on two before the end of the World Series, and now the New York Bank The Berkshire Bank is having a CD special in celebration of the Yankees' 27th World Series championship. It's a 2.70% APY 27-month CD. Minimum deposit is $25,000, and the maximum is $500,000. It's not listed on the bank's website. A reader saw it advertised in the NY Daily News, and I just called for additional details. The banking representative said it's likely to end by this Friday (11/13/2009).

Branches are located in New York, Brooklyn, Harriman, Goshen, Bloomingburg, Ridgefield and Teaneck.

The bank's ratings for safety and soundness are fair: 3½ stars (good) at BauerFinancial and 2 stars (below peer group) at Bankrate.com. Both ratings are based on 6/30/09 financial data. The bank has been a FDIC member since 1989 (FDIC Certificate # 27503).

The Ridgefield and Teaneck branches are in New Jersey.
