$150 Checking & Money Market Bonus at CoreFirst Bank & Trust in Kansas City - Local Only

POSTED ON BY

CoreFirst Bank & Trust

CoreFirst Bank & Trust is advertising a nice checking and money market account promotion called Checking Incentives. You can earn a bonus of up to $150 for opening its reward checking and money market account. The promotion doesn't seem to be listed on the bank's website. It was advertised in the 9/25/2011 Kansas City newspaper. The ad is available online here.

All of the bonuses require a direct deposit of payroll or monthly credit. They have three account bonuses to choose:

  • $150 for opening a Rewards Checking with a money market or CD
  • $100 for opening a Free Checking Account with a money market or CD, OR open a Rewards Checking Account
  • $75 for opening a Free Checking Account with E-statements

Here's the ad's small print:

The CoreFirst Bank & Trust Incentive Checking program requires a direct deposit of payroll, or monthly credit to obtain incentive. Incentive will be deposited into primary checking account after 90 days and 2-3 direct deposits have been made/verified by bank. Funds will be reported as interest on your 2011, 1099 Interest Earned Form. We may report to the IRS the value of any premium. Any applicable taxes are the responsibility of the recipient. New accounts are subject to approval. Please refer to the appropriate product brochure for detailed product information on eligible incentive accounts. Offer may be withdrawn at any time without notice.

Both the Rewards Checking account and the Free Checking account do not have monthly fees. However, the online bill pay service is only free if you make at least two bill payments per month. Otherwise, there's a $4.95 monthly service charge. I first reviewed on this Reward Checking account in 2009. The rate has fallen, but it remains a fairly good deal.

The money market accounts do have monthly service charges. To avoid the fee, a minimum balance of $1,000 is required in the Money Market One and the Money Market Preferred Plus.

Availability

Based on the ad, it appears a branch visit is required. In the ad, four branches are listed at Leawood, Lenexa, Olathe and Shawnee in the Kansas City metro area. CoreFirst Bank & Trust branches are also located in Topeka, Kansas and in Colorado.

The bank has an overall health score at DepositAccounts.com of 3 stars (out of 5) with a Texas Ratio of 33.82% based on June 2011 data. Please refer to our financial overview of CoreFirst Bank & Trust for more details. The bank has been a FDIC member since 1959 (FDIC Certificate # 18100).

Other Bank and Credit Union Bonuses

We have a new bank promotions page with a table of all of the active bank and credit union promotions. You can filter the table based on the type of promotion and based on your state. I have more details about how to use this page in this blog post.
