Pacific Service CU (CA) Has Two Checking Account Bonuses

California’s Pacific Service Credit Union (Pacific Service CU) has two checking account promotions available through May 31, 2015: open a new Relationship Checking account and receive a $100 bonus, or open a new Free Checking account and receive a $50 bonus.

To qualify for the $100 Relationship Checking bonus:

  • Open a new Relationship Checking account by May 31, 2015, using promo code CHECK100.
  • Relationship Checking requires direct deposit or $25K in combined savings and loan balances.

To qualify for the $50 Free Checking bonus:

Limitations:

  • Members who have closed a Pacific Service CU checking account within the past 12 months are not eligible.
  • Can be opened online or in person at any of six branch locations, using promo code CHECK100.
  • Checking account must be in good standing with a minimum balance of $50 on May 31, 2015 to receive bonus.
  • Bonus will be deposited by June 10, 2015.
  • If checking account is closed within 90 days of opening, bonus will be rescinded.
  • Opening multiple checking accounts, or an additional account for existing account holders do not qualify for the bonus.
  • ATM fee reimbursement limited to $3 per transaction and $15 per month for Relationship Checking; no ATM fee reimbursement for Free Checking.
  • Relationship Checking will incur a $10 monthly fee if direct deposit or $25K balance of combined savings and loan balance are not maintained.

Availability

Membership in Pacific Service Credit Union is primarily residency and employment based.

Residency - Individuals who live, work, worship or attend school in the northern California counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Marin, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano or Sonoma are eligible.

Employment - Individuals who are employees or retirees of PG&E Corporation and its domestic subsidiaries are eligible for membership.

As mentioned earlier, joining Pacific Service CU and opening a checking account can be online or in person at any of six California branches, located in Concord, Fresno, Livermore, Pleasant Hill, San Francisco, and San Ramon. The promo code CHECK100 must be used to ensure the bonus will be earned.

Established in 1936 by employees of the Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), Pacific Service Credit Union's (NCUA Certificate #68413) original field of membership was limited to PG&E employees in the San Francisco Bay Area. A total of 23 members volunteered their time and talents to operate the fledgling credit union. The original maximum loan was $2K, with deposits limited to $1K. 80 years later, Pacific Service CU has over 57,000 members and assets in excess of $1.08 Billion.

Not even a "please?"  If one did some research one would know what those rates are based upon, when they are available, etc. and even make a rough calculation of same.  Too early now.  Too abrasive in the tone of your "demand."  Go pay someone to calculate it for you if you want an estimate this early!

The current I Bond rate is listed in this blog post. The next I Bond rate can be calculated on April 17 when March CPI data is released.

Update 3/8/08: The CD rate has fallen again. Please check the credit union's website for the latest rates.
Update 3/1/08: The CD rate has fallen. The 30-month Add-On CD yield has fallen from 4.25% to 4.00% APY. The title has been modified to reflect this change.

7.00% 6-Month CD at a CA Credit Union - $5K Max (Pacific Service)
Update 3/6/08: The maximum deposit has been lowered from $5,000 to $1,500 on this new-member CD special.

Pacific Service Credit Union continues to offer a 7.00% APY 6-month certificate for new members. The maximum deposit is $5,000. 5.55% 11-Month CD at a California CU (Pacific Service)
Pacific Service Credit Union has a new special CD called the Triple-5 certificate with a yield of 5.55% APY and a term of 11 months. The minimum deposit is $1,000, and it requires money new to the credit union. It's available as a regular or IRA certificate.

It looks like Pacific Service ended its 7% 6-month 5K-max CD special which had been an ongoing special for much of last year. I had last reported on this in January.

7% 6-Month CD at a CA Credit Union - $5K Max (Pacific Service) - Update
Pacific Service Credit Union continues to offer a 7% APY 6-month certificate for new members. The maximum deposit is $5,000. The minimum is $1,000 for those over 21 and $100 for those 21 and under. I had first reported on this back in May. It looks like they're continuing this special into the New Year.

They no longer have the 5.50% 15-month add-on CD that I reported on in August. Current rates for the CD's are 5% and 5.25% APY. They still have the same 5.25% APY 30-month add-on CD.
