Re Anonymous 325: I just looked that up. It appears that change affects ONLY the Fourth and Sixth Federal Reserve districts, as per the headlining on this page:

CCAvailability of Funds and Collection of Checks

Amendment reflecting restructuring of the Federal Reserve’s check-processing operations in the Fourth and Sixth Districts (effective February 27, 2010)

Press release and notice

However, the actual press release at that link is written without mentioning districts, so can be very confusing! It is here:

Any further clarification would be appreciated. I'm not sure this isn't the LAST of the Federal Reserve districts where this has been getting done over the past couple years.

re: me1004 - #326 you're correct that in Feb was the merging of the check processing for 4th and 6th Federal Reserve banks, but it was in fact the last consolidation and thus merging of the final two regions.

Appendix A showing all routing prefixes in Cleveland:

Also "The Demise of Nonlocal Checks"

and "Say 'Goodbye' to Nonlocal Checks"

I would have replied earlier but it's not possible to submit comments on from an iPhone (and it doesn't work all that well on Firefox 3.6 either, as the preview/submit/cancel buttons appear disabled even though they usually, but not always, work).
