Issues On Opening Checking Accounts

Note that negative record (e.g., bounced checks) stays with ChexSystems for five years.  Meanwhile, I would suggest trying small community/local banks/credit unions, which have more lenient rules for checking account openings.

Step 1: Identify those banks/credit unions that do not require a FICO check (traditionally called "hard pull).

Step 2: Try small banks/credit unions that one can open account in branch immediately.  In this manner, one can explain and "soft-speak" the CSR into opening a checking account on the spot.
