CD Rate Reductions

Thursday, December 5, 2013 - 11:54 AMGE Capital Bank - Details
I guess GE Capital Bank took advantage of all the excitement over PenFed to slip in a couple CD rate reductions this morning.  Its 1-year APY is now 1.00% (down from 1.05%) and its 4-year APY is now 1.50% (down from 1.67%).  It's stayed at 2.01% for its 5-year CD.  Beware, then: not everyone is going up!

Addendum: Not all bad news on the 12-month CD front today.  Bankaholic.com reports that Alostar has gone up to 1.10% APY.

A CSR at Credit Union West (Phoenix, AZ) called me this afternoon to let me know that their 5 Yr CD Promotion will be ending "soon".  They don't give specific dates for changes, but he guess it would be at the end of January 2014.

He did say that if I got my paperwork in before the rate changed, they would honor the old rate.  I hope that's right.
