Best Reason To Delay Retirement -- Longer Lifespan

Wednesday, January 29, 2014 - 10:56 AM
From MarketWatch.com:

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-best-reason-to-delay-retirement-2014-01-29

"Andrew Gaches, a longevity consultant for actuaries Club Vita, said that "retiring at age 70 rather than 60 adds around 13 months to men's life expectancy — and 12 months to women's longevity — even after allowing for differences in individuals' health, wealth and lifestyle.”"

But those who retire at 70 and those who retire at 60 have different financial/job/health situations.  To make such a broad statement really makes little sense.  Just my humble opinion without retribution.

Adding to ones life expectancy means little without qualifying what the quality of life will be for the additional years. Not too many of us will be too spry after 90 years of age to enjoy or take advantage of the extra time.
