Royal Banks Of Missouri Cuts Rates To 2.75% APY

Royal Banks of Missouri (0 stars) - Details
This afternoon I received an e-mail from the senior vice president of Royal Banks. The e-mail stated the APY for Majestic Checking will be cut from 3.51% to 2.75% effective tomorrow (11/23/2010). Their website has also been updated with the new rate.

Plus they dropped their good >$25k rate of 1.4% by almost half to .75%, which takes away the convenience and incentive to leave extra money there.  When they raised their debit usage to 15 awhile ago, their good rate made it understandable.  But now they've become the least attractive of my reward accounts.  After they recently completely redesigned their website and online banking, I wondered if this was coming.

Btw, in a recent conversation with the csr, she mentioned that they "might" open up to national applications again in the next few months... On the other hand, I also got the feeling they prefer local clientele to the national crowd. I'll be curious to see where these rate cuts take them.
