Very impressed they gave over a full month's notice and by regular mail. Their personnel have been very nice, so that's reassuringly consistent with their customer service.
(fyi: Current qualifying period ends 1/10/11, the next full one ends 2/7/11, so Feb. 9 is the one after that.)
1/4/11 dated mail received 1/6/11:
"Due to the current banking environment, please be advised that changes will be made to Smart Checking. Beginning February 9, 2011 the highest rate of interest will be paid on balances of up to $25,000* if the required minimum monthly activity to receive interest is met.
The minimum monthly activity will remain:
- 10 Visa CheckCard transactions (excludes ATM transactions)
- 1 Direct Deposit or ACH/Electronic Payment
- Receive your statement electronically by eStatement
Even with these changes, we are still pleased to be able to offer the most competitive interest bearing checking account in the Northwest Arkansas market. In addition to the Smart Checking product, we also offer a companion product, Smart Saver. Smart Saver is a free savings account that is paired with Smart Checking to bring interest earnings to every penny you put in the bank. For more information on Smart Saver, please see bof.com or call (479) 444-4444. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you and look forward to serving your banking needs for many years to come.
*Please see our current rates in determining account interest. Rate may change without prior notification. Fees could reduce earnings."
