Northstar Bank (TX) will be dropping RCA rate from 3.01%/30K to 2.25%/20K effective 3/22/12. I received a letter today.

0.50% APY remains the same on daily balances more than 20K

0.10% APY remains the same on the entire balance when minimum monthly qualifications are not met.

Thanks, that is a big drop in rate/limit. At least they are nice to give advance notice.

Also effective 3/22/12, on Velocity Saver accounts, which is the other component of Velocity Checking, the balance cap to earn the highest rate remains unchanged for daily balances of $20K. The rate, however, is changing from 1.5% APY to 1.0% APY on balances of $20K or less. On balances above $20K, the rate remains unchanged at 0.5% APY.

I give kudos to Northstar Bank for continuing to give advance notice of changes to their accountholders.
