Associated Credit Union is headquartered in Norcross and is the 6th largest credit union in the state of Georgia. It is also the 220th largest credit union in the nation. It was established in 1930 and as of March of 2024, it had grown to 358 employees and 158,820 members at 18 locations. Associated Credit Union's money market rates are 7X the national average, and it has an A health rating.

Membership in Associated Credit Union is open to individuals who live or work in Georgia. Membership is also open to employees of more than 700 Select Employer Groups, including active and retired U.S. Armed Forces members.

I Love Associated Credit Union

Associated Credit Union is a large Credit Union with a small town feel. Even though they are very large, the tellers still know their clients by name and are very willing to go the extra mile to help with problems (ie. a hold needs to be released earlier on a check). I have banked with them for years and have been very pleased.

High Fees, But a Safe and Reliable Banking Option

I have been a member of this Credit Union for over ten years. I have felt that my funds have been more secure with this institution than any other I have worked with. However, they offer a very low interest rate on Savings accounts, and they still charge monthly checking account fees. If you are looking for security, it is one of the best. But, if you are looking fod growth, you might want to look elsewhere.

I did not feel that the fees and savings were competitive. The web experience was sub-par at times, and there were several times that the website was out completely. This was very inconvenient. I also did not like that I was able to make cash deposits at the ATM. Overall, I was pretty dissatisfied, and I would not likely bank with a Credit Union again.

So Far I Hate This Credit Union.

I joined this Credit Union for the CU $aveMore. I open a Share account, the web page read I needed an active checking account so I open a checking, it said I needed a direct deposit so I have a direct deposit or have eStatements and I do. I've sent email and no reply. I'm even using the bill pay. I'm giving it one more month and if nothing changed, I'm closing my account.

Absolutely Horrible. I made the mistake of getting my home loan from them because my employer "used" them. It turns out that they have nothing to do with my employer. They messed up my first payment and I got a ding on my credit report. They then messed up my tax payment from escrow twice.

Now that I am finally trying to close my accounts, they won't close them. They want my driver's license number, a signed letter, and/or to come into their bank.

I have moved. If I have to drive 200 miles just to get the lousy $200 that is left in my account, I'll be sure that it costs them...

What in the world! Just CLOSE my account!

Horrible Customer Service

Horrible customer service….. waited there for 20min before I got any help, during the first 15 min I sat there and didn’t get any help another customer comes in and sits beside me. The manager then came out asked came I help you and ask who was first. The said that I (me) was there first, then the manager directs me towards her office and proceeds to help the caucasian woman while I sit in the office. The manager then comes into the office with the ladies info, makes a call for the lady, goes to the printer and gives he a check and the she asks me can I help you? I politely said yes I think I’m going to close that account I open 1 hour ago! By

Wrecked Institution Tainted By NO LEADERSHIP

As an ACU member since 1993, I have made the decision to abandon my relationship with ACU and would advise others to do the same. Beginning in 2017 through this the summer of 2019, I have seen a string of unfavorable, irresponsible, just displays of rude & careless behaviors demonstrated by ACU representatives in the Union's Processes, Loan department, Marketing, and the Board of Advisors. I have brought some of these concerns to Chairman ******, yet sadly, only one of these issues has been corrected. In the summer of 2017 (July 13, 2017), I phoned the ACU to personally relay some of these issues on July 13th to communicate my concerns with the Chairman; However, the Chair's call-back log was either incredibly backed-up or my call was ignored, as the Chair never returned my call unfortunately. However, the Chair did respond to my October 2017 letter summarizing 3 of my issues that were in need of attention to improve the Union establishment and enhance the performance of relationships with members. Unfortunately, only one of my concerns has been corrected. A shame really that a member, not on staff, must bring these issues to your establishment. Issue 1: The ACU taut that "ACU is a full-service financial institution offering a wide variety of products and services to its members in Georgia, across the United States, and overseas. We are ranked in the top 150 credit unions in the U.S., and we continually strive to develop competitive products for our members," according to However, in the summer of 2017, I contacted ACU through the homepage portal "Contact Us" form then by calling your customer service phone number. My inquiry involved the online location of a commercial loan application. I was referred to Credit Union Business Services, LLC. After 7-days, I finally received a call-back from an agent representative who politely told me that CUBS could not help me and referred me to a for-profit bank (***** Bank) to apply for a loan that was under $300,000. I regret this advice now as my private and confidential information was relinquished to ***** Bank as the loan application 'stalled' or 'died.' To readers of this complaint, is it your opinion that (the) "ACU is a full-service financial institution?" Issue 2: When I, as an end-user log into at any time prior to Oct. 2017, and execute the "Contact Us" form from and complete the form, I experienced NO response to my inquiries submitted in 2016 and 2017. I wonder if anyone from ACU IT have ever tested this application or are CSRs monitoring any tasks it might generate? According to the Chair, he too experienced only returned 1 reply from his own personal test of many. What a shame. What a joke. As a member, I do hope someone isn't paid to ensure Customer-Satisfaction is exceeded? I would seriously reprimand this individual or group. Issue 3:In March of, 2017, I had asked ACU's Marketing group to 'opt-out' of their 'associates' postal junk mail because of the affiliation many of these associates have with the pro-abortion supporters ******************, including ************** Insurance and their partners. I spoke with a Marketing executive who assured me that "ACU do NOT have any member-offer relationships with ************** and that I would be removed from their solicitation list."This was a lie as more offers have continued, including a solicitation offering "A Car Insurance Benefit of Credit Union Membership" from ******** Auto & Home Insurance Program as recently as June of 2019. This promotion, according to the offer, was to be underwritten by none other than "************** Insurance," the same 'partner' which your Marketing Director denied any relationship with. The Chair also assured me that all mailed solicitations would stop immediately in October of 2017. Unfortunately, the solicitations continued until we relocated to Florida in September of 2019. We have directed, under USPS junk mail rules, to discard all junk advertisements from the ACU moving forward. When asked in October 2017 if the relationship between the ACU and ************** Associates could be severed, given their commitment to support ******************, the Chair responded that, according to the Board, the relationship would continue at this time. Ironic since I was told by a Marketing executive, just 3 months prior, that the ACU didn't have a relationship with ************** or their affiliates. Again, more lies. So, we as members are to infer that if the ACU have a relationship with a hate group such as the *************, this would be acceptable? What exactly, would exemplify a break in the Union's level of tolerance? Issue 4: In May of 2019, at the advisement of Member Services / CUMA Financial Advisor, I applied for a "Home Equity Loan" for less than $25,000 to make improvements to a home-property owned outright. With over $150,000 in a CUNA/ Hartford IRA and over $12,000 in cash in various ACU accounts, the Advisor suggested that the loan be underwritten by the ACU. After meeting with the ACU loan officer, he defaulted on our application, and would not underwrite the loan. It should also be noted that over $20,000 of auto and signature loans were underwritten to me personally by the ACU from 1993 through 2005. When asked "Why?" would the loan not be underwritten, given my perfect credit score and history with the ACU, I was told, "Well work it out; I'm sure of it." Weeks later, we reached out to the loan officer and he stated that he was still waiting to "hear back from (financial advisor)." It has been 6 months, and still nothing. Lesson learned, don't ever rely on an ACU representative for anything.

Associated Credit Union, Horrible Customer Service

Try to get someone on the phone. I spent 2 hours yesterday. First time, on hold for almost 15 minutes then the cust service rep hung up on me. Called back. Cust Ser rep couldnt help me, transfered me, got voicemail, no call back 24 hours later. I need help, not aggravation.
Their web site allows for messaging, no reply 24 hours later.
