Commerce Bank is headquartered in Kansas City and is the 2nd largest bank in the state of Missouri. It is also the 70th largest bank in the nation. It was established in 1984 and as of June of 2022, it had grown to 4,480 employees at 166 locations. Commerce Bank has a B+ health rating.
Commerce Bank is my first and only bank. It is great. They have no hidden fees and great customer service. Their employees are friendly and very helpful. I chose this bank when I opened my very first checking account and they have been so good to me every step of the way. This bank makes me feel like a team member, not just a customer and I trust them with my fund whole-heartedly. I am so happy that out of all the banks that were suggested to me, I chose Commerce.
I have banked with Commerce since I was a child, where I opened a savings and checking account for the first time. The bank is very responsive to my concerns, which mostly relate to charges and other balance maintenance requirements on savings and checking accounts. However, as the world has adapted to the growing business of being online, Commerce Bank is farther behind. Their savings and checking accounts no longer offer the convenience that a local bank could provide 10-15 years ago, and their online offerings are subpar. They recently offered check deposit via mobile app, but it comes with a fee. In general, the online offerings have been trying to catch up to other banks, and, in my opinion, are subpar compared to what you may get elsewhere. While I love my local Commerce bank, I simply wish its products could match its service and the local, small-town bank vibe that it offers.
Decent bank, customer service was great several years ago but has become quite bad the last few years. Very few atms make it hard not to get charged fees when you are out of your particular city, thus accumalating alot of fees. Online seems great, quick to use and usually pretty accurate
Commerce promised a $250 reward for $1000 charges in 90 days. They claim I didn't make it but I say I did. I was keeping track from the time that I received the card in the mail. They backdated it to when I applied for it. That is pretty low. How could I use the card when I didn't even have it yet?
Stay away from these guys. They are slippery.
