bankESB is headquartered in EASTHAMPTON and is the 27th largest bank in the state of Massachusetts. It is also the 597th largest bank in the nation. It was established in 1869 and as of June of 2023, it had grown to 257 employees at 11 locations. bankESB has a B+ health rating.
We have a checking account, a certificate of deposit, and a mortgage with Easthampton Savings Bank; we have banked there for about seven years. The employees are friendly and polite, remember who you are, and really do go out of their way to be helpful. It is a local bank, with plenty of locations and ATMs in the area. The offices are conveniently located, with decent hours, and are pleasant, secure and attractive. The online site and mobile banking app are well-thought-out, with the features you need and no extraneous fluff. ESB is supportive of the community as well, sponsoring educational and arts events. I would not hesitate to recommend Easthampton Savings Bank to anyone in western Massachusetts who needs a financial institution.
It has totally lost its way. This is no longer the bank that supports the community and is an automated system of robots that answer the phone. It can be related to online bill pay fees, terrible experiences for auto and home loans and think it can do whatever it wants because it is Easthampton Saving bank..
In order to bid on a home you must be prequalified for a loan. Most banks will do this for you in a short visit. Some will let you prequalify on-line. Easthampton Savings Bank won't prequalify you at all. They make you go through the entire process of setting up an actual loan which is only good for a short while and may not be what you actually need once a purchase and sale agreement is in place. There interest rates were a bit higher also when I looked into this. I might add that my husband and I have our savings and checking at ESB and have done business with them for years. They have good free checking and even pay you to use your debit card, but if you are looking to be prequalified for a home mortgage, look elsewhere!
Fall 2011, I am buying a home in East Hampton, they had one of the lowest mortgage rates around this summer, so I chose to go with them. Big mistake. They have actually calculated WRONG NUMBERS a few times during the two properties I have worked with them on (the first one ended up falling through). Communication is bad. They have waited until the last minute to tell me some of the things I need to get to them. Then the clincher is that they ended up not finishing on time, so they couldn't give me the mortgage approval by the date on my P&S!! The sellers have started getting nervous, even though I have a credit score in the 800's, and have a ton of down payment money! I should have been the easiest case to process. I have done a mortgage, and also refinancing before and I have NEVER encountered such incompetence. Finally, my real estate agent contacted them and complained. Things are at least moving along now. However, I have emailed and called the new contact person at the bank (a bit higher up in the ranks I am told) and she has not even gotten back to me!!! At a minimum, I am owed an "I'm sorry" for the inconvenience! I am SO unhappy with my interaction with this bank, I will NEVER recommend them ever to anyone.
I have a loan with easthampton savings bank for 3 years now.I had 2 people do loans for me and now i want to get one on my own i cant get it because of my income this is not right i have the same income from my first loan i pay it on time every month,i dont miss a payment at all.I wish i could talk to just one ceo of the bank about this but you know that is not going to happen,My payment are the same no matter what but i need someone to sign for me,so all this hard work was for nothing and banks wounder why they get a bad name.If you want a loan dont go there for one,I made my mistake by going there
