Easy To Deal With

Posted by: |

I have been with Great Lakes Credit Union for about 10 months now and I am yet to run into any serious issues. Things work as advertised. Customer Service waits are a bit longer but still acceptable. 3% Rates on Reward Checking Account is probably the highest among local banks/credit unions.

Avoid This Credit Union

I was unable to make any of my loan payments online because of archaic system. When you call in you literally have to answer around 10 questions before you can make a payment. I paid off my car loan in June and am still waiting for the title that they supposedly mailed. Worst experience ever.

GLCU gets the job done

I had an account with GLCU for about six years. They were previously tied to my high school so I joined as a senior in high school. It was my first checking account, debit card and credit card experience. They had a branch inside my high school which made it convenient. They were always friendly when I came into the branch. They were willing to help and answer my questions. They did not charge high fees. My only problem with their customer service was that they closed early most days. When I got to be an adult that didn't live in the immediate area I had a hard time if I need to get business done inside the bank because I couldn't make it there during their business hours. However they helped me over the phone if I have any questions related to my account. I used direct deposit into my checking account and had direct bill pay for a loan. I never had an issue with either of these services. I would recommend them to anyone that needs a checking account.

Fees Galore

Avoid this bank. They tell you there are no ATM Fees, but you will still get charged. They do not have courtesy refunds.

Very Disappointed

My previous credit union which I was with for over 20 years was taken over by Great Lakes Credit Union a year ago. From the very beginning I was given false information regarding logging into the online banking, password setup and money market checks that I was told 50 checks would be free and they were not. For being such a huge credit union I found that their fees are outrageous. Other credit unions fees are far less and are more personable to the customer than Great Lakes Credit Union. You can not call the branch location. I didn't have much of a choice when they took over and gave them almost a year when I closed all 3 of my accounts. If you like a big bank feel with all the fees then this the place.

Be Aware Of A Lot Of Fees

This bank imposed a lot of fees on rewards checking account, $5 per month if not meeting the requirement. $25 for closing fee if closed less than 100 days. I never saw this kind of ridiculous fees on reward checking.

Closed two accounts today anyway to get a peace of mind.

Took Over Month To Get Set Up Because There System Sucks.

These guys have crappy customer service, worse than Wells Fargo if you can believe that, IF you can even get through the 1990's era phone tree that is. You will get stuck in endless loops of hold music followed by people hanging up on you. Do not be lured by the 4%. It wont last, it will end as soon as they meet some deposit quota I am sure. I seems most of the people you get connected to have no clue about whats up.

Run.....run away while you still can.
