Jenius Bank Close Account Unexpectedly

I was happy with Jenius bank. I was still happy when my starting rate 5.26% rate got adjusted to 5.25%. I didn't raise an issue with that. I didn't raise an issue that the bank keeps all accounts you have linked with them on file and will not delete them or have an UI on the website to delete that account you added if that external account is closed. I got lied to on a customer service call escalated to management that they were working on a fix earlier this year which they never fixed it and a ticket/suggestion was put in for it. I didn't raise a fuss about that obvious data harvesting.

I was really hoping and waiting for them to finally open the checking account in the time the exec publicly announced they would via online articles and video. My account was flag for fraud review. I called because I couldn't access my account with my password manager. I talked with a lady and verified all account identity questions and I even updated my account information with her. However, my reading from my account statement wasn't good enough for her so she said I'm putting in a ticket and someone will call you from the fraud department by next Tuesday. I never got a phone call back. I called Wednesday who save me the number and time to call them. I called Thursday morning. After verifying my information I was told that it was closed and we don't know the reason why. I asked her why don't I get a check for the amount sent to my address on file? The money will be sent ACH back to the original way it came in. I told her I don't have that bank account anymore. She told me then I will have to go to them to get the .44 cents. I never did anything bad with the account and they didn't have a policy to close accounts with no movement before. I'm just out of luck. I will be not promoting the bank anymore.

Recently the customer service line got changed you have to go through automated prompts.

Jenius Accounts

It promises 5% interest, but when you try to open an account its website becomes unresponsive.
After a lot of trying I got an email saying that they were reviewing my application, but no more, no response after several days. FAKE account, FAKE promises. Do not waste your time.

Shocked By Janius Bank Unreasonable Demands

I have had an account for a while. I decided to try a transfer from my Janius Bank account to another bank that I linked with 2 deposits mouths ago. Rather than send the money to the external bank that Janius bank linked to, the fraud department called me and demanded that I provide a bank statement from the external bank showing all of my banking details like transfers and amounts. I find this to be ridiculous. I have no intention of passing my banking information around the internet. Stay away from this bank because they demand information that they have no rights to like bank statements from other banks. I went to Janius bank because of the good interest rates but it seems that it was a mistake because Janus Bank is not a reasonable business partner.

Was Considering To Open An Account

I tried calling customer service multiple time. I was initially encouraged because they always answered in a reasonable amount of time, no matter when I called. Indeed, 24/7. However, in trying to get answers about the problems I see posted here on DepositAccounts, I heard disturbing information from the phone reps themselves. I was informed that there is some sort of "review" that happens when people - withdraw - their money. According to the reps, they don't who or why or when it will happen. Apparently, some people have it happen every time they withdraw (even smaller amounts), others only occasionally, and still others not at all. The reps could tell me no pattern or reason they could fathom for the trigger of a review - which apparently takes different amounts of time for different people. This is obviously quite concerning as there is already a wait time to get your money from the time you withdraw it, which, of course, is normal, but if you don't know if they're going to saddle you with one of their unpredictable "reviews" and how long they're going to take, then why would anyone put their money in here. I am certainly not taking the risk.

It was very smooth setting up and opening a saving account with Jenius. Transferring and/or withdrawing funds has been very smooth and done as stated. I do my transactions on Monday. I spoke with customer service once and my call was answered quickly, and the representative was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Everything was handled quickly. Very pleased with my new savings account. Look forward the great interest growing in time.

Jumping Through Hoops

Multiple roadblocks trying to set up a savings account with Jenius Bank and my application was ultimately declined, in spite of my multiple CDs among three banks, stock investments, eleven credit cards, and credits scores that have never been outside the 800s. I took my business elsewhere.

Great interest rate. STELLAR, US-based customer service. They're all knowledgeable, helpful, professional. Hold times have always been short. I've had multiple online savings accounts over the years and this is one of the best.

The customer service is non-existent. There are no branches to resolve issues, and you are put on hold for 45+ minutes while they email and text superviosrs,achieving nothing. The canned response I recieved was "This is the process: you have to let us work through the process."

DO NOT USE THIS BANK. ITS IS HORRIBLE. THERE ARE NEVER ANY SUPERVIORS AVAILABLE, AND IT IS THE WORST BANKING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED

Long Holds

Just opened this account recently. Rates are good but holds are long. Takes several days to go through. I have transferred I- Bonds and money from other savings accounts and takes just as long either way.

It Has Potential

Jenius has a bare-bones website that feels old and clunky. The sign-up process felt a bit clunky too.

Jenius is SLOW with money in and out.

Jenius does not have a Visa Debit or ATM card.

But... it has a great rate.

If their advertising is to be believed, they will continue to have a good rate.

They are new and they may smooth out over time. This could be a good one.

And Jenius --- Get a Visa Debit or some sort of ATM card!

We shall see.

Excellent Bank

Fast and friendly on the phone, answered all my questions quickly. US based customer support.

Tested deposit and withdraw, successful ly. Statements are clean and clear. Transfer time was a wee bit slow but all good. No fees.

Happy to see the rate of return being legitimate, security seems solid. Several months in now and pretty happy. Would be nice to have an ATM card though.

Frustrating - I Would Avoid

I opened an account less than three weeks ago. I don't log in regularly, but I wanted to see something this week. After three unsuccessful attempts, I was locked out. No biggie, I must have forgotten my password, so I had the account unlocked and pw reset. Try to log in with new pw, no luck. I know I used the correct one, I had JUST updated it. Run through another lock out, and reset, and the third time I cannot get in.

I spent two calls with customer service, who were pleasant, but ultimately unhelpful. I am moving my money out of this bank as soon as I can login (which I'm told, is a problem they have been having for at least a couple days). An online-only bank needs to have damn near close to 100% uptime, if not 100%. Never had this problem at other banks. Beware!

Don't use the chat it's useless. I called and an actual human, who spoke good English answered, that's good. However, the representative never would let me talk a full sentence without interrupting me and she seemed to be clueless, so she just kept talking over me. I got mad and asked that she please allow me to speak, but she refused, well I'm not proud but I let a word fly not directly at her, but anyway she said she wouldn't help me, so I said if you would allow me to talk, interrupted me again. I asked to speak with the manager, then she hung up. It took 30 min to file a complaint and the woman said I'll have to get a manager to call you they're all busy, that lady was nice. Me and my girlfriend have two separate accounts and nervous about 100% online banking had started moving small amounts into our accounts like 20k to test the waters. After this I'm moving to another high yield account and bank.

i recently create an account on jenius bank. after registering i noticed it having me wait for aN update 2 business day to create my account. seems kind of strange for an online bank that should be mostly automated.

Worst Customer Service Ever

I called to ask a question about my current savings account with them and it took the customer service person 20 minutes to find my account. The account number, full name, address, and phone number were not helping. She then came back on the phone and apologized because she was not searching it the right system... After finally finding my account she could not answer the 1 question I had regarding my interest rate. It was a total of 30 min of wasted time and stress for no reason. I will take my money out of this bank and place it in the hands of someone with better customer service.

Slow In Getting Your Withdrawal!

Jenius Bank advertises high interest rates for savings accounts, which is great. However, beware about slow times in getting your withdrawals! Jenius Bank advertises 1-3 business days to get your savings withdrawal delivered. On the same day/time, I initiated savings withdrawals--to the same location--from three online banks. Ally Bank delivered in 1 business day, and Capital One delivered in 2 business days. However, here it is day 3, and the funds are yet to be delivered by Jenius Bank. The customer service representative I dealt with yesterday was not helpful. It makes you wonder whether this bank is actually legitimate.

Don't Waste Your Time

Their online portal for application is very problematic and so you will get a major hick-up there... And they turned down a loan due to another loan I had.... Hello I was going to pay off that loan with their loan...(consolidation and a better supposed rate) but they treated it like an additional loan and declined me.
At least get the facts right before you decline. Secondly, there is no communication, no replies to emails so you are basically dealing with a computer box with no brain. Run and just keep running.

On-Line Savings Account

Opened a savings account on Tuesday morning, micro deposits linking accounts were on my external account the next day and I immediately initiated a transfer to fund the new account. I initiated the deposit from Chase to Jenius and the next day it shows as available balance and current balance. Customer service has been a charm, very polite and friendly. I was told there would be a hold for 5 days on incoming funds but since I pushed instead of pulled the funds, there is no hold. I will initiate a transfer out next week and see how that goes. So far all is very good !
Please note that Chase bank is much quicker than some other banks at transfers in and out. Also, after talking with customer service, there is a 24 hour hold on incoming funds pushed from an external bank. 5 days if pulled. Always best to transfer funds on a Monday or Tuesday morning early as possible so you don’t run into the weekend. I usually initiate transfers at 5:00 in the morning on Mondays.

A Great On-Line Savings Account

8/31/24- I have been banking/saving with Jenius for a while and I have been nothing but happy. The rate has remained high, I like talking to a human on the phone and recently had to transfer a large amount from my savings at Jenius to my savings at USAA, the bank from which I originated my funds to JENIUS, and it was smooth sailing.

I did the one transfer, the limit and the $$ was in my USAA account in 2 to 3 days. I called and asked to go over the allotted transfer amount due to needing it for a closing, and I spoke with the fraud department and it was smooth sailing. Again, the larger amount was in my USAA account in less than 72 hours. I will move more $$ into this account when a CD closes as the savings rate and customer service at this bank are glorious!

I was a bit nervous to invest with this bank, being a bit on the new side, though their parent company has been around for about 100 years.

Regardless, I was looking for a great online savings account rate protected by FDIC. When I opened this account in Jan 2024 it was at 5.10% APY , It has since moved up to 5.25% APY.

After doing the initial application I was a little nervous, as I did not hear back from them instantaneously of either a denial oran approval. A few days later I received a call from one of the representatives to verify all of my information. While it is great having an online bank with a great rate and no fees, it was still nice to hear a human's voice.

After that call, they opted for the 2 small deposits in my account at USAA and then I verified those amounts and then I put in the transfer. It took a day or two and all has been well. I have since transferred some additional funds into the account and have had no issues. I can't say as to the transfer from Jenius back to my home bank of USAA, but I don't foresee any issues. I love USAA for a multiple of reasons and I'm thankful I have the opportunity to utilize their services on multiple platforms, but at the end of the day I need my $$ to make $$.

Don’T Even Try This Bank!!!

They let you set up an account quickly and send you a pre approved for 30K which is I applied for . (with 760 credit ) .. then when I submit an application they didn’t approve. And I have one hard inquiry. Big scam for me.. don’t apply for personal loan to this bank.

Attractive But Not Needing Right Now

DepositAccounts led me to this due to 5.1% savings account rate. I do a little better right now at Raisin.com. The website was extremely friendly and actively encouraged calling them 24/7. I ended up calling to verify that accounts are for personal accounts only, no business accounts.
