Applying for CD account online was straightforward. However, funding the account and contacting the bank are the two biggest headaches.
Once you open the CD account, you have two working days to fund it or their computer system will automatically cancel the account. As a result, your only funding options are to either wire the money or personally deliver a check to the bank.
If you try to call the bank, you cannot get in touch with anybody from the time the bank opens to the time it closes.
Considering that banks are competing for your deposits, I would skip this bank.
I attempted to purchase a 12-month CD online this morning but my application was rejected. The reason given was that they couldn't verify my personal information and they suggested I call a rep. I tried to call but, of course, I couldn't reach anyone on the weekend. I could wait until Monday, but I figure I'll go with another bank at a slightly lower rate. A problem this early in the process is a harbinger of future issues.
Tried to open online 12 month CD for their advertised rate of 5.50%. Filled out the standard online app then got message that I didn't qualify for the account and for me to call CS if I wanted to reapply. Called the CS number and only got a recording saying to leave a message and they would call me back in one business day. Maplemark is located in Dallas and since I'm local I called the branch direct number, same message leave your name and number and we will call you back within one business day. This is just a little too shaky for me, I think I'll just move on, plenty of better banks and rates out there.
Finally- a smooth CD application system with no hiccups and all the personal help you can use. This is my online bank forever.
Just opened an online CD. The application was straightforward with an upload of a picture of my driver's license. The application was approved within an hour, followed by two test deposits into my linked funding account later that day, followed by the initial funding transfer the following day.
Given some of my nightmares recently with other online applications, it was pleasant to see that MapleMark does it the way it should be done.
