Behind the Scenes with the FDIC and the History of Sheila Bair

60 Minutes replayed their pieice on the FDIC this evening. The first broadcast was in March. 60 Minutes followed FDIC agents in the closure of Heritage Community Bank in Illinois. The 60 Minutes reporter also interviewed the FDIC Chairwoman, Sheila Bair. Here's my March post on this 60 Minutes piece.

For those interested to know more about Bair, this recent Bloomberg article provides a good read. It covers her entire life along with the issues she has faced while serving as the head of the FDIC.

I have had about enough of Chairman Bair. It's all a big show about how supposedly the FDIC is the friend of the ordinary saver, while at the same time stabbing us in the back with this rate restriction baloney. They are all there for the enrichment of the large Wall Street financial institutions, no one else.

I actually like Bair . I think she's sharp and as honest as possible given her sensitive position.

As far as the rate cap, I'm afraid she's right. As a taxpayer you don't want to pick up the tab for crooked or desperate banks who 'grab' funds with rates that are unrealistic.

Get over it, and get real.
