Still a good rate and hope others were able to get one of the credit unions they have a relationship with to get a match with them then or now if you did not open an account with Flagstar.
A credit union I have relationship with 2010 with my reward checking account and a savings and recently they matched a Roth IRA rate when I had to split it because of insurance, also matched this Flagstar rate in savings account until Oct.

It always pays to have a relationship with one credit union in your town for many years, and it never hurts to ask. It takes 2 minutes when you drive past it to stop in and ask. If Flagstar's rate is still the same when my interest rate goes down I certainly will ask or have no problem going to  Flagstar. They are in my town and I haven't been a customer since 2013 but they have always been great to me and even in the the 80's when I had accounts with them and I opened accounts for the  township when I was treasurer shortly after that because of the rates I could get with them. They did a lot of mtgs and got into a trouble in the 2008 banking problem and the recession. I never had a problem with anything with them. They were especially accommodating to deal with when my mom passed in 2006 with her IRA even going into another branch that did not know me because we had to go to another credit union on that side of town with one of her accounts close to that office. Then when my husband passed with his accounts and me disclaiming the accounts in at that time in 2012 so the kids could inherit everything it was fast and easy. I have been consolidating accounts now but I have no problems of going back to Flagstar even though Peggy who I dealt with originally has retired and their banks near me are in new buildings and even closer. I have been in both branches near me and feel very comfortable with the 2 branches speaking with their desk people.
There are two branches within easy driving distance from me and one I didn't even realize because I go in to the parking lot from a different street one is in front of the grocery store I frequent.

@Ally6770
I asked EECU in Ft Worth for a rate match twice and they said yes both times. I have been a member for many years but did not think they would rate match a CD but they did so you are right it never hurts to ask

TtxFish1,
Same with me but I rarely have to go into the branch except when the place the IRA was with would not send it to a bank PO BOX and they sent me the check over night (that is no longer over night) with the check made out to them. I had to bring it to them and was going to open a Roth savings until I decided what to do with the the other half. They asked me what I was going to do with it and they said to show them the rate and then took over a $150,000 of it and made it at the highest rate and I then sent the other part to the other credit union with that rate.
When Flagstar had their rate I went in to ask. Not sure why I would never ask them in the past when I asked other places and had gotten a match.
Never to late to learn. I have been asking for rate matches I believe since I got rates in the 80's from the Wall Street Journal and before bankdeals.com Ken's first site name and before I could even get internet.
Just hope this site will continue to upgrade and get better and better. Just send the suggestions and complaints to the site that Ken gave us in his
good-bye post. He is always so gratious, and accommodating and thinking of us even in this last post. This site has a lot to do match him.
Ken, it has been just 2 days and can't even put into words HOW WE ALL MISS YOU AND YOUR PERSONAL TOUCH. Sent you an email but not sure you got it.

No, that was the MBD Hi-Yield Savings
..the one that didn't require the $25k minimum.
This one went straight to 5.35.

No, that was the MBD Hi-Yield Savings account, the one without the $25k minimum. This one jumped straight to 5.35%.

Does anyone still have money in their account after the rate guarantee ended? Mine ended a few days ago and I moved it out the same day, actually moved it to the MBD account via an internal transfer.

I wanted to confirm what is the rate on this Savings Plus after the rate guarantee ends. I cant see it myself because my balance is now only $1. They are not even advertising this account any more. The one I see on their website now is the "Flagstar Performance Savings" with 4.30% APY. I am thinking they are playing those new account name games and not intend to provide their existing customers the best rate
