@ichaelm I am sure you saw that as of this writing, there is no direct sign up link at the site. It's where people have to submit their email address first, and then the bank will (might) send an email link to begin the application. It's worth noting that this is a very small bank with just one branch, and just $91,000,000 in total assets at last report. Perhaps they are doing new sign-ups this way just in case they get overwhelmed, and then decide to stop accepting new account sign-ups, which has been the case for years.

Also, the interest rate paid on the portion of one's balance in excess of $250,000 will be just 0.05%.

@midas89 I just added the link that you'll be taken to so you can apply. It's directly below "apply now" above. After you input the info they'll text you a verification code, so you can start the account application.

@ichaelm Interesting that at the Neighbors website, as of this writing, they have a box that people have to submit their email address but no direct sign-up link, even though the sign-up link they emailed you that you posted can simply be used.

Anyway, I have had an account with them for years now, and I hope they continue to keep their rates competitive, of course.

@midas89 you're correct that there's no direct sign-up link and it would be easier if they provided one. I gave them my email just last week and I was surprised that they contacted me as quickly as they did. If Roger Bank lowers its savings rate for civilians, Neighbors Bank could be bombarded with new account applications once again.

A little Neighbors Bank history: May 13, 2020, the savings account announced. By May 27, 2020, new account openings halted.

I did attempt to open a second savings account to see if I could get the ability for a second potential $250K maximum to earn the APY, but was rejected, as only one account is allowed, understandably so, of course. I expected it was not allowed, as it is also not allowed at Roger, but I figured I would try anyway as a just-in-case.

Anyone know if they pull a credit report upon application?
If so, hard or soft pull?
What's the minimum balance required to open it?
thanks in advance

@sardonia When I opened up my account in 2020 there was no credit file pull at all.

There is no stated minimum amount that is required to open an account.

Digressing, just for general knowledge, not for anything you asked: Their site added the following: "Limited to one Neighbors Savings or Online Savings account per primary owner."

And one more thing: This account is not available in Delaware, according to their site.

@ichaelm If you decide to add this to your list of highest interest rate accounts next week, keep the following in mind: According to customer service now, Neighbors Bank is regulating the number of applications it accepts. (Which we know they did back in 2020.)

I signed up using the direct link. I didn't do the email submission from their main page. I was approved, and I have my account. I also checked my ChexSystems report and there is a the new reference. I hope the rate stays good for a long time.
