I just went to move a large sum to another bank and got this new pop up---I realize that Cit monitors this section on DA, but I guess they don't mind my sharing this info. So basically this brings my account to 4.75 apy currently.

Earn more with an updated rate

The current interest rate on your Platinum Savings account is 4.639%, with an APY of 4.75%.*

We'll increase your interest rate by 0.002% for the next 12 months.

That means your new interest rate will be 4.641%, and your APY will be 4.75%.*

And don't worry if the standard, published interest rate on the account changes, your interest rate will move with it, remaining 0.002% higher than the published interest rate for the next 12 months.

*Platinum Savings is a tiered interest rate account. Interest is paid on the entire account balance based on the interest rate and APY in effect that day for the balance tier associated with the end-of-day account balance. APYs — Annual Percentage Yields are accurate as of February 24, 2024: 0.25% APY on balances of $0.01 to $4,999.99; 4.30% APY on balances of $5,000.00 or more. Interest Rates for the Platinum Savings account are variable and may change at any time without notice. The minimum to open a Platinum Savings account is $100.

At what dollar level do you get these "Special" rates. I have six figure accounts and move five figures several times a year. Thanks for any replies!

Zaqxsw, Try an amount over 50% of your total, increasing it until you get the pop up. That should get you the pop up. Good luck. CIT is the best!

Move 90% of the money usually triggers this

Update, I called, took 40 minutes but I was able to get 4.75. Up from 4.45 with loyalty

You know, this could be a big problem for those big savers who don't get these deals. I'm not up for a 40-minute phone call. Easier to just pick another bank, but also a headache. Getting unhappy.

I accepted the same offer in February but it did not change the rate from the previous offer from last September. Keep in mind the bonus rate tracks with the current interest rate so the example rate is misleading. You should check your monthly statement to see what rate you are actually receiving.

I called in to get the interest rate bump, and got it. I was told that for the 12-month period, my interest rate will always be 43.1 basis points higher than whatever the stated rate at the website is.

Does it matter how much money you have there currently? I have only $100 there now, should I try calling to see what they offer me?

@fdic For sure. Like you, I was storing a couple of hundred, but since the balance was under $5,000, the interest rate was like 0.25%. I transferred over $5,000 just to get the interest rate back up to 4.30% APY. I used Customers Bank, so same-day arrival. I then called as soon as it posted, and got the rate bump.

I guess you could always ask in advance of you sending money if they would give you the bump. And then once they say they will, then transfer the money. I do not know. I do know that someone here at DA in the new forum I created on this topic this morning posted that an obviously uninformed rep said they never heard of it. But you can see at DoC that someone read my posting today and then applied, and posted they successfully got the bump, as I did.

I tried accepting the offer for a 2nd time. This time it was followed by a conditions pop-up and a notice that the new rate will be shown in the account within 3 days. The new rate is now shown in my account. Just another annoyance, I moved some funds to another account and now I will have to move them back again.
