The par yields of several Treasuries as of 4/23/2025 are listed below. See: https://home.treasury.gov/resource-center/data-chart-center/interest-rates/TextView?type=daily_treas...

If you are currently considering the purchase of a CD, you may wish to consider a Treasury instead. Since Treasuries are exempt from state and local income taxes, depending on your taxable income and state of residence, the taxable-equivalent yields could be higher than the yields shown below.

1-month: 4.33%
1.5-month: 4.36%
2-month: 4.34%
3-month: 4.33%
4-month: 4.33%
6-month: 4.22%
1-year: 4.01%
2-year: 3.81%
3-year: 3.87%
5-year: 4.00%
7-year: 4.20%
10-year: 4.40%

@RichardW
Pointless hypothetical.
Would you, please, to introduce the case scenario where State and Local INCOME taxes combine to 22.5%... to consider equivalent

Thanks to RichardW for his contribution to depositaccounts! Instead of your criticism why not introduce these equivalents yourself. It’s work ,time consuming and no pay!
I for one don’t see this as pointless as I and others here can do their individual state and local tax equivalent.

Thank you, Marfa, txFish1, Hooked, and happyharold4!

txFish1, we need to thank Kirkland for the regular posting of brokered CD rates. I typically just post direct (non-brokered) CD rates.

Yeah, good rates comparatively speaking, - but are Treasuries truly safe any more?

The markets thought no during the recent big stock
sell-off, and many sold their Treasuries at the very same time.

I myself wouldn’t touch them now, with all the poison spewing from the White House.

Hi Harold regarding the Live Oak bonus is there a code that you need to apply when signing up for the Personal Savings account bonus? Thanks!

No codes that I am aware of---Just go to their site and open a new savings account and fund it with new money $20K---Here's their requirements

Customers must meet all of the following requirements to be eligible for the $300 bonus:

New and Existing Customers:

The promotion begins on April 14th, 2025.
Only one bonus is available per Tax Identification Number per promotional period.
Only personal savings accounts are eligible for the bonus offer. Checking accounts, certificates of deposit (CD) accounts and fiduciary accounts (e.g., trusts) are not eligible for this offer.
Opening of a new account will be subject to approval by Live Oak Banking Company in its sole discretion.
A new account must be opened between April 14, 2025 and May 16, 2025 to be eligible.
A new Live Oak Bank personal savings account must be fully funded with at least $20,000 by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on 05/16/2025 to be eligible for the bonus.? If the account is not fully funded by May 16th, then the account is not eligible for the bonus offer.
All funding of the new personal savings account must consist of funds originating from an external financial institution to qualify; deposits or transfers originating from an existing Live Oak Bank account (whether personal or business) via internal transfer, CD redemption, check, ACH transfer, wire, or loan proceeds do not qualify for bonus offer.
Beginning on the date in April or May 2025 that the new account attains a balance of at least $20,000, if the balance remains equal to or exceeding $20,000 for 60 consecutive days, then the account will be eligible for the bonus if all other conditions are met. If all eligibility criteria are met, the $300 cash bonus will be deposited to your open, eligible account?within 45 days following the expiration of the 60-day period.
Your new account must not be closed or restricted at the time of payout in order to receive the bonus. Live Oak Bank reserves the right to withdraw or withhold the bonus offer from any customer, with or without notice, if fraud or other suspicious activity is suspected.
Any promotional amounts received may be subject to taxation.
Existing Customers:

In addition to the other requirements for the bonus offer, existing Live Oak Bank customers must maintain their existing account balances (not including interest accrued but not credited to the account) at or above the end of day balance as of April 13th 2025 11:59:59pm (ET) across their existing personal savings in order to be eligible for the bonus offer.
3. National savings average rate courtesy of the FDIC’s Weekly National Rates and Rate Caps, as of 3/17/2025; average rate used is for deposits under $2,500.

4. Live Oak Bank is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). As a Live Oak Bank customer, your Live Oak Bank deposits are insured by the FDIC up to $250,000 per depositor, for each account ownership category.

Just make sure you open a “new”account. Depositing money in your identical current account will invalidate the bonus

It's going to be interesting to see when they actually pay the bonus---The above info says they have up to 45 days after the 60 day wait---So if you opened today 4/25, your 60 days hold on your 20K would be up 6/25 but they would have until approximately 8/10 to fund your account with the bonus.

I spoke to a rep today after opening up a savings account and he said that they typically pay the bonus 2-3 weeks after the 60 day period. Of course YMMV.

i called to be sure of the status. my notes also say one can remove much of the 20k after 60 days and still get the bonus. the account needs to stay open. i don't know what the minimum is for the account.

Live Oak has been rolling this out since last fall and the current offer is their 4th round. I received my bonus for the 2nd round about 30 days after the 60-day hold but for the 3rd round, only 10 days after the hold.

After the 60 days, remove your deposit and just leave a dollar (I think their minimum is actually only 1 cent) while awaiting bonus payment.

Is that what you did---Remove the bulk of funds after the 60 days---Just curious if thosse left funds in the account might have gotten the bonus earlier.

Don’t believe there is relevance. From the datapoints at Doc, it seemed Live Oak paid out the 3rd round bonus quicker than the 2nd round’s. My suggestion to remove deposits immediately after the 60-day hold is, in the event there is a 5th round, your earlier funds will not be locked in should you wish to enroll in the new offer.

I just got an email from Raisin. If you open a savings account they will pay out a $250 bonus for a 25k deposit or a $500 bonus for a 50k plus account ( They have bonuses for lower amounts too).. Both also come with a $50 Rakuten bonus. They show Live Bank as one of the eligible accounts paying 4.35% APY. Use code BOOST:
