The minimum opening deposit is $100. You can make one penalty-free withdrawal of up to 25% of the principal, unlimited deposits of $10-$25k per day, and one rate bump should the rate increase. I don't have much experience with online credit unions. Can anyone join or do you need to meet some kind of membership criteria? This rate sounds great but the 1-star reviews are concerning.

This isn't an online-only CU; it has 32 branches in MI and MN. Many CUs require that you live, work, worship or attend school in a particular location in order to become a member but in this case, anyone can join by making a $5 donation to one of two organizations. I agree with your trepidation about the poor reviews - I've seen banks with bad ones, but never this many for a CU. Otherwise, this is a great offer.

I average about 1 new deposit account a month, and Genisys approved my membership. [I was declined by Farmers Insurance FCU a year ago] I funded the 14 month Flex CD the day after getting approved using a mobile check deposit.
