Chase Bank Short Term Certificates

I have a checking and savings account as well as their Freedom CC with Chase that I opened years ago to take advantage of their bonus offer at the time. I have never really used either bank account on a regular basis and have a total of $10.10 in both accounts combined. However, I do use them to make ACH transfers sometimes because they are local to me and have instant transfers to some other FI's. Today when I logged out the following page showed that they were offering some short term CD's at an almost competitive rate. Never before have I even considered Chase for anything that paid me interest because of their paltry rates. This does require a relationship with them but it may be something some DA readers might be interested in taking advantage of and they do usually have a decent checking/savings bonus offer available to anyone inclined to open accounts with them.

I really like that Chase offers RTP instant transfers, even if only $5,000 maximum. Unfortunately, the vast majority of banks and CUs are not set up to accept RTP. I also like that if one has a good relationship with Chase, they offer $100,000 daily ACH limit, and if you do a pull, there is no hold time once the money posts.

Chase also offers a generous $5,000 Zelle limit after you have done some Zelle transactions to that recipient.

Arguably, the most frustrating aspect of Chase when it comes to ACH transfers is that when you link a new account, the first time you initiate a transfer, you are required to speak to their fraud department. And you can't call in to confirm. Even if you try, you still have to wait for someone to call you. And if you are unable to answer when they call, your transfer won't be processed.

One aspect of a FI that has low rates is b/c they may be under some private regulated restraints on growth…ergo low rates!

I use Chase to send funds real time to my daughter's Keybank account (This is the only bank that has this with Chase I have encountered). I've had problems with Chase when I either initiate an ACH to a newly set up account and sometimes large transfers. Sometimes get a text asking if I initiated the transfer and just reply yes and it goes through. If I see an ACH in a pending review status I call them and they will do some verification questions and then release the ACH. After hours the wait times can be long.

Dont worry, it sucks. 4% for 4 months. Only Chase would try to waste your time with these nonsense terms.

happyharold4, here it is but not sure what you mean by "live" other than it takes more than one click. I'm not certain why some links turn blue and are clickable, but for whatever reason this one is not. Ever heard of the two click feature referred to as copy & paste?? Featured relationship rates

The only thing Chase is good for is their credit cards (Chase Saph Preferred is the best), and their superior technology on their site. Just in the past month, I made $1900 off of them basically doing nothing.

$1000 for opening the Chase Saph card (its 100,000 points right now)
$900 for opening a checking and Savings
All has been paid out.

I am using it as a freebie vaca next month. 1 week on the beach in West Palm Beach looking over the Atlantic.

Once youre over 40 yrs old, spend it as it comes in!

Live like no one else, so later you can live like no one else!

Agree about their cards. Bonuses paid for a new iPhone and MacBook Air. The accounts have too many restrictions and beware of the possible service charges.

"$1000 for opening the Chase Saph card (its 100,000 points right now)"

Word on the street is this offer disappears tomorrow online, maybe open until 5/17 in-branch, so get it now. Good for paying property tax & estimated income tax also. Got mine yesterday.  Only churnable every 4 years.

The big banks usually offer low rates but have a large deposit base.

Very true! Chase doesnt give a shit about anyones measly 500k to add to their deposit base. They lose that much weekly on delinquent loans and/or fraud. lol
