I like Customers Bank — which I use as a main "hub" — and would highly recommend their Yield Shield account (currently at 4.23% APY).

Yes, you do need a $25k minimum balance to earn that interest. And there are several offsetting advantages, including: (1) virtually unlimited external account linages; (2) same day transfers — if requested before 2 pm; and (3) very high transfer allowances (I've not run into any limits, with either $100k+ pushes or pulls).

I wouldn't think there'd be any difficulty closing your account, and getting your money out (unlike the horror stories we hear about Marcus, and others) . . . but you may well find, as have I, that Customers — if not always offering the very highest of rates — is, due to the points noted above, decidedly a "keeper."
