Sharefax CU (OH) Offers Top-Rate 80-Month CD
Sharefax Credit Union (Sharefax CU) recently raised the rates on its 80-month Share Certificate (CD), which is actually three separate products with tiered APYS: 80-month CD (2.75% APY), 80-month Silver CD (2.95% APY), and 80-month Gold CD (3.00% APY). The minimum deposit for all three CDs is $15K, with no balance cap.
The higher APYs on the Silver and Gold CDs are associated with Sharefax CU’s Member Rewards program, which awards points based on an account’s activity (i.e., 20 points for having e-Statements, 20 points for every $1K on deposit, etc.). 200 points are required to qualify for the Silver CD APY, and 300 points for the Gold CD APY.
Unfortunately, Sharefax CU does not have any information about the Member Rewards program on their website. I spoke at length yesterday with CSR, who very patiently read out a rather long list of point assignment – far too long to list here. While the additional basis points are tempting, collecting reward points to obtain the Silver or Gold APY may not be worth the effort for everyone.
In a Live Chat, CSR stated the Early Withdrawal Penalty for any of the 80-month CDs is 180 days of interest.
