9.00% 9-Month CD at a Colorado CU - $2K Max (Elevations) - Update

Elevations Credit Union
Elevations Credit Union continues to offer a 9% APY 9-month certifcate. The minimum deposit is $1,000 and the maximum is $2,000 per member. A checking account is required. A free checking account is allowed for new members. Current members must open a dividend bearing checking account. My last report on this special was in September.

Since the checking account is required, you can think of this 9% CD like a checking account bounus. Having $2K in a 9% CD for 9 months would result in about $60 over what you would earn in a 5% savings account.

The field of membership includes all students, faculty, staff and alumni association members of the University of Colorado system. Residents of Boulder County who are 50 years of age and older may join by becoming a member of the 50 and Better Club. There's also a long list of Select Employer Groups. Membership requires a $25 minimum deposit into a savings account.

Branches are located in Boulder, Longmont and Lafayette, Colorado.

The credit union is NCUA insured. It has $722.9 million in assets (up from $673 in September) and 75,549 members. One interesting note about this credit union is that members just voted to convert from a federal to a state chartered credit union.

Is that the same as the Colorado Shakespeare Festival that's listed on their membership group page?

You might want to check with the credit union to make sure being a member rather than an employee would qualify you.
