6.00% 5-Month CD at a New Jersey Bank (Valley National) - Update

Valley National Bank
Valley National Bank is offering a special 6% APY 5-month certificate of deposit. It requires a checking account with direct deposit. A yield of 5.50% APY is available without this. The maximum deposit on the 6% CD is $250K, and the maximum deposit for the 5.50% CD is $500K. It doesn't seem to listed at the bank's website. It was advertised in a New Jersey newspaper. The ad is available online here.

The special CD is only available at the bank's 3 new branches at Keyport, Highlands and Keansburg, New Jersey.

The bank is also offering a $150 checking account bonus (see post) which is available at all of their New Jersey and New York branches.

The bank is FDIC insured (FDIC Certificate # 9396).

Looks like Valley National is busy adding new branches (perhaps too busy). A reader in the last post mentioned this news article on an incident related to the CEO and predawn construction of their Chelsea branch.

the 6% CD is also available in Brooklyn , NY at the Avenue J & 18th avenue locations

also available in Manhattan in Franklin Street Branch, Hudson Street and 88th Street. You need to open a direct deposit checking account to get the full 6% CD, if you don't have direct deposit, it would be about 5.5% CD.

They also have a 5% money market for 5000 minimum
