Free Checking Account Promotion at Wachovia in Dallas

Wachovia Bank
Wachovia is advertising in Dallas a promotion for its free checking account. You can get 2 tickets to a Texas Rangers game for opening a Wachovia Free Checking Account with a minimum opening deposit of $100. The account must be opened by 6/30/07. This was advertised in the Dallas Morning News yesterday. The ad is available online here.

On Saturday, I reported on a much better Wachovia checking promotion that's being offered to residents of New York, Maryland, DC and northern Virginia. For that promo, they're offering a $100 VISA gift card (see post).

Those in California still have until June 24 for a $125 checking account bonus (see post).

Wachovia's Free Checking Account has the basic components of free checking: no minimum balance requirements, no monthly fees, etc. A reader in the previous post mentioned that Wachovia does a hard credit pull (via Experian). According to the banking representative, checks are not free, however, they are optional. You can just use the free debit card and free online BillPay. Checks cost $18 and up based on style and your location. There is a $25 fee if the account is closed before 6 months. In addition to the hard pull, Wachovia also does a ChexSystem verification.
