5.10% 6 and 3-Month CDs at Countrywide in Some States

Even though Countrywide Bank lowered all of its internet CD rates to under 5%, it still has local CD yields up to 5.10% APY for 3 and 6 month terms. I've verified the 5.10% APY for California and Illinois. A yield of 5% APY is offered in New York, Florida and Texas. A yield of 4.75% APY (the same yield as available online) is listed for Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Colorado and Arizona. You can check what's available in your area by typing in your zip code in Countrywide's CD rate page.

As I mentioned Friday, Countrywide slashed rates on its internet savings account and CDs. All of its long term CDs now have yields under 4%. This Reuters article describes how we may be seeing an end to the Countrywide Effect in which Countrywide's aggressiveness for deposits have forced other banks to keep their rates higher than they would have liked.

Thanks to the reader who mentioned these CD rates in the comments of the Finding-the-best rates post.

Countrywide is blocking withdrawals.
This is what I get since Friday:
