The IBM Federal Pacific Credit Union used to have locations at many IBM locations in the West. Some years ago they became the Meriwest Credit Union and Meriwest has been expanding in Western United States, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have had an account with them for almost 20 years and their service has always been professional and courteous. I recently wrote to their marketing executive explaining that I pulled most of my savings out of the Credit Union since it no longer offerred attractive rates to savers. I guess this must have been something they were worried about because two days later they offered a 3.75 APY 7 month certificate. I wrote to the marketing executive again stating their certificate did not excite me pointing out the 4.75 APY 3 month CD offerred by Park Ave Bank. A few days later Meriwest replaced their 3.75 APY 7 month special by this 4.30 APY 11 month special.
