iPod Checking Account Bonus at TD Banknorth in the Northeast

POSTED ON BY

TD Banknorth has a checking account promotion in which you can receive a free iPod Shuffle 2GB or an iPod nano 4GB for opening a checking account with direct deposit. The iPod nano requires that you apply for their credit card on the same day you apply for the checking account. Offer expires 9/17/08.

You can apply online, but it's only available in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Upstate New York.

The bank's checking account page has the checking account details. The Simply Free Checking has no minimum balance requirements or monthly maintenance fee. The minimum initial deposit is $25. The bank has three credit cards and all seem to have no annual fee. Note, with the credit card, it's very likely that there'll be a hard credit inquiry which will temporarily ding your credit score.

Credit for this find goes to Fire Finance.

Thanks Banking Guy for the heads up. Easy as pie to open over the phone. I thought I wouldn't be eligible as I am self-employed, thus no 'direct deposit' however it looks like any ACH push into the account will do. I will use my Countrywide Savings Link and a month after that I will receive my Ipod.
Thanks again Banking Guy, you really are the greatest!!

An extra bonus, at least for now, is that all TDBankNorth checking accounts have: "No ATM Fees Debit Card*: Accept the charges at any ATM and we'll reimburse you in at the end of your monthly statement". N/A in MA, NH, ME, VT, or at Commerce Bank (nj bank that was taken over by TD.)

NO ATM FEE is a gimmick. Keep funds in wallet.
