First Central Svgs., another NY bank which competes with this credit union, is offering a 7-year CD with an apy of 2.10%.  Brick and mortar bank, no credit union membership issues, open to all.  An alternative which people may want to consider.  My sister-in-law opened it up long distance, no problem at all.
