$150 Checking Account Bonus at TruMark Financial in Southeastern PA

POSTED ON BY

TruMark Financial Credit Union has a nice checking account promotion in which you can earn up to $150 for opening one of its checking accounts and using some of its services. There is a free checking account, so you don’t have to worry about monthly fees eating away your bonus. The promotion is listed at the credit union’s promo page as of 5/28/2013. I don’t see an expiration date, but the small print does say that it’s a limited time offer. Below is a summary of what is required to earn the full $150 bonus:

  • Must be a first-ever TruMark Financial checking account holder
  • $50 - Begin direct deposit of at least $300 per month within 90 days of account opening to get $50
  • $50 - Perform five signature-based debit card transactions within 90 days of account opening to get $50
  • $50 - Enroll in free online Bill Payer and make at least one bill payment within 90 days of account opening to get $50

Below are some additional details listed in the credit union’s small print:

Premiums will be paid within 120 days of account opening. Limited time offer. Cannot be combined with any other offers. Offer subject to change or cancellation without notice. Offer applies solely to unique individuals as defined by the primary account holder’s SSN. Business accounts not eligible. Offer does not apply to existing TruMark Financial checking account holders or to persons who closed a TruMark Financial checking account within the last 12 months.

As I mentioned above, there is a free checking account. It’s the credit union’s Basic Checking, and it has no monthly maintenance fee and no minimum monthly balance requirement. One downside with the Basic Checking is that they don’t give any free usage of the STAR Network ATMs. Also, they charge 25 cents for each PIN-based debit card purchase.

The Plus and Premium Checking accounts don’t have the above downsides, but they do have monthly fees if certain balance requirements aren’t met. Another advantage is a CD rate bonus, but it’s only 0.05%. Some of their CD rates are moderately competitive.

You can review all of the features and potential fees of these checking accounts in the credit union’s checking page.

Membership requires maintaining at least a $5 balance in the regular savings account.
