3-Year CD Special at Luther Burbank Savings in SoCal - Local Only

POSTED ON BY

Luther Burbank Savings

Luther Burbank Savings is having a CD special at two of its Southern California branches. The bank is offering a 2.00% APY 3-year CD. Minimum deposit is $1,000, and there is no maximum deposit. No checking account is required. This is a limited time offer, and it could end at anytime. It’s not listed on the bank’s website. A reader emailed me news about this special (hat tip!), and I confirmed it with a branch manager today (10/04/2013).

According to the branch manager, the special CD is only available to Southern California residents as a personal account. It can only be opened in person at either the bank’s Toluca Lake branch or Pasadena branch (all account owners must be present). The bank requires two forms of identification. One of them must be a state issued driver’s license or identification.

Please refer to our map of Luther Burbank Savings branches for the location details of the Toluca and Pasadena branches.

The bank has a health grade at DepositAccounts.com of A+ with a Texas ratio of 3.90% (excellent) based on June 2013 data. Please refer to our financial overview of Luther Burbank Savings for more details. The bank has been a FDIC member since 1983 (FDIC Certificate # 32178).

I recently noticed a sign in the window of their Pasadena branch and was planning to check it out. Visited the bank's website to find out when they are open, but could not see their branch hours listed anywhere. Just phoned them and learned from a bank representative that they are open only Monday through Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.; not open on Saturdays. That will make it difficult for working folks like me to open one of these CDs, as you must do so in person. Perhaps the same CD rate will still be available the next time I have a day off on a non-holiday. If I am able to open one, I can post a report on how that goes.
