Wells Fargo Sending Out Refunds To Some Mortgage Customers -- In Step To Block Lawsuits

Wells Fargo Bank is sending out surprise refund checks to some FHA mortgage customers, saying they had paid unnecessary fees for their loans, had been put into more expensive loans when they would have qualified for cheaper ones. But it comes with a catch: If the customers cash they checks, they will be barred from any lawsuits over the loans. That is, the bank is taking action to try to block lawsuits over its practice. The bank allegedly steered people into unfavorable loans.
