First Hawaiian Bank To Stop Offering Debit-Card Rewards

First Hawaiian Bank will no longer offer rewards on its debit cards for its customers in Hawaii, Guam and Saipan as of this weekend.

The Honolulu-based bank blames the Durbin Amendment, which takes effect Oct. 1 and puts a cap on what banks can charge for debit card transactions, also known as swipe fees.
