The accusations say the bank manipulates and alters the order of transactions so it maximizes the amount of overdrafts and overdraft fees. It says the bank will routinely post all debit transactions before posting deposits, causing any number of unnecessary overdrafts. It also says the bank does not decline transactions even when it is clear the transaction will cause an overdraft.
The allegations only involve the bank's operations in Utah and Idaho, but the bank also operates in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
