All America Bank is headquartered in OKLAHOMA CITY and is the 39th largest bank in the state of Oklahoma. It is also the 1,511th largest bank in the nation. It was established in 1969 and as of June of 2024, it had grown to 118 employees at 7 locations. All America Bank has a C+ health rating.
I've had an account with them for 5+ years. No real problems. They answer their phone promptly during business hours and are kind and helpful. Their interest rates are usually better than 90% of other banks and I've never had to deal with any unreasonable restrictions. They aren't always the rate leader but are often pretty close. I keep an account open with them for the times it makes sense to park money there.
6 months ago I decided to open AABank's mega money market checking acct for quite a few reasons: their rates seemed to stay consistently in the top tier compared to other big names, new/higher rates are applied automatically to existing accounts (no need to call and ask for the new rate or to make a new account each time), I liked the idea of real people answering the phone whenever I called (during business hours), their reviews were above average everywhere I looked (happy customers don't seem to feel as inclined to leave reviews as UNhappy customers), there's no fees to park money for passive growth (or for 6 withdrawals per cycle), and the included debit card allowed immediate access in the event of an emergency.
Fast forward to now and I can honestly say I have no complaints thus far. Opening the account was simple enough and it was fully functional within a week. I treat it like a standard savings account so the transfer limits don't really bother me and I still have a checking account with my old bank that I use to initiate transfers in and out of which shortens the transfer time to 24 hrs or less. The website isn't super fancy but it does exactly what I need it to do without lagging or crashing and I can login with my fingerprint so accessing my account is an absolute breeze.
There was one time I had a question that I couldn't find the answer to online so I called one of their brick and mortar locations (in Oklahoma I think) and a real live person answered the phone immediately without the usual 10-minute menu BS! She was pleasant and personable, answered my question directly without transferring me or putting me on hold for an hour, and I didn't get the feeling that she was rushing to end the call! With online bank accounts like this that hold a large part of my savings, that kind of service really matters to me.
They may not be the right fit for everyone, but they've been great for my needs and I would highly recommend considering them before you look elsewhere.
Now you’re talkin’! Yippee!
Rewards checking: 4.5% ($15K max, 10 debits)
Mega Money Mkt: 4.25% ($75K cap)
Per website.
NOTE: Today’s (1/5/23) Treasury auction result of 4.52% for the 8 week bill suggests to me that the chances are quite good that AA/RED rates are likely to be raised at least 1/4% on 1/21.
Overnight the rates went up again
Mega Money Market personal checking....
4.55% APY* on up to $75,000.
Ultimate Rewards personal checking account...
4.80% APY up to $15,000
Good basic bank overall, but I had 2 money market checking accounts (to get the higher yield) and verified with them in advance if it's ok to have 2 accounts and have a $0 balance in 1 of them, they said yes for a year and then the will close it after prior notice to avoid dormant fee. I eventually had 1 account with $0 balance to buy T-Bills at Treasury Direct, and linked both accounts together, after a couple of months 1 of my checking accounts were just gone (poof....like magic). I messaged the bank, and they said the account was closed. My sense is this is a small time bank that has a problem with empty accounts for a period of time, and on a side note they have very low liquidity.
Currently great rate for IRA Savings, but only available by going to a branch - in Oklahoma only.
Also, it's an unusual savings account in that you need to commit to keep the money in the account for a year at a time, like a CD.
Good customer service, though: phone call was answered quickly and questions answered.
