ACU is a good credit union. Am posting because they make available a two year CD indexed to the two year Treasury Bill. Certificates of deposit indexed to Federal interest rates are few and far between. This is a nice offering for those interested in indexed CDs.
Anytime I need to pull out money or deposit money from America's Credit Union they greet me with a smile and thank me for coming to the bank politely asking what I need. I never have any problems and if I am not sure what I need to write out on the slip or what I need they are extremely informative and always help me out! Their online experience is great and very easy to maneuver. I would suggest anyone looking for a bank try out America's Credit Union because you will not be disappointed, this bank does everything a bank should and more!!
I originally opened my account for the 5% on $1,000 Affinity Checking. I realize that's only about $50 a year but for what I was using the account for it was worth it. The requirements at the time were 10 debit card transactions, 2 bill payments, e-statements, and direct deposit. The website wasn't that great but you could see pending transactions and get all your account information.
This was my small transactions account that I had several things setup to autopay and it worked out well. Then they started making a lot of changes that I didn't like. For starters, they ended the cash back credit card program when the switched to EMV cards. However, you didn't automatically get an EMV card, you have to reapply to get one otherwise you just have your old credit card. When they switched to EMV cards, if you weren't careful they were going to charge you for a replacement debit card as the first one is supposed to be free. I never got the replacement in the mail and when I called to get a replacement the first time they were going to charge me. I had to call back 2 more time in order to speak to someone so that I wouldn't get charged.
While they have updated the website and it's much nicer, the requirements for the Affinity Checking are no-longer worth it. They want you to keep $15k in bank deposits but will only give you the 5% on the first $1k in the checking. You also need $500 in direct deposits in addition to e-Statements and 10 PoS transaction. Their deposit rates aren't work keeping $15k at the bank so you are better off looking else where.
Many other credit unions have better rates (deposits & loans) in addition to the rewards checking account.
It is best to steer clear of this credit union. They do not treat members with respect, definitely a trap house.
