Great local banking

I love this credit union. It's a small, local one in my area of Alabama. The people there are super-friendly and helpful. While they don't always have all the things that the big banks offer, they make up for it with small-town charm. They have good rates and a decent checking account.

Why I love my ASE Credit Union

I opened an account with Alabama Credit Union, ASE in Wetumpka, Alabama, back in 2004. Having moved from a large city in another state I enjoyed the 'hometown' feel of this branch. The customer service was great. I found it much easier to communicate and do business with a community institution. It was easier to go in and speak with someone and develop a personal relationship with the staff as opposed to calling or the dreaded automated system. When I needed to take out a loan, I was no stranger. I was addressed by my first name and the bank manager himself helped me through the process. The fees are much more reasonable than a regular bank and the interest rate was a tad higher. They offered good choices on what type of banking I needed, including free checking, and checks. They even helped me formulate a financial plan of sorts to accomplish my goals. I have since moved and really miss the people at that particular branch.
A couple of months ago, I wanted to open an account with Guardian Credit Union in the city I currently reside. People I work with said they were good. I cannot believe that I went into the branch twice and they were so busy I was never waited on. They are VERY understaffed. All in all I prefer to do business with a credit union.
