Three weeks ago, BANK VI added a new 30-month CD, which currently earns 2.31% APY. The minimum opening deposit is $500, and there is a balance cap of $95k.

According to the fine print on the Current Rates page,

These deposit rates should be effective until December 23rd, 2017,
but all interest rates and programs are subject to change, without notice.

CSR confirmed that the 2.31% APY is a limited-time offer, but no specific end date has been announced.

The 30-month CD is also available as an IRA (Traditional), earning the same APY with the same funding requirement.

According to CSR, the Early Withdrawal Penalty is 6 months interest.

Availability

Headquartered in Salina, Kansas, BANK VI offers it product line nationwide. Unlike most banks with nationally available products, BANK VI does not have an online application.

The first step in opening a CD is to contact the Bank by phone (785.825.4321 or 855.825.4321). After providing your personal information, BANK VI will begin a snail-mail correspondence with you, including any documentation that needs to be signed and returned.

If you happening to be driving through Kansas, you can open a CD at either of the two Salina branches. Salina is located about 90 miles north of Wichita (I-135) and 175 miles west of Kansas City (I-70).

Originally known as The Citizen’s State Bank, it was located in the small town of Geneseo (current population of less than 300) for the first 96 years of operation. (Geneseo was an important stop on the Missouri Pacific Railroad between Pueblo, Colorado and Kansas City, Missouri.) Sixth Bancshares, Inc., purchased The Citizen’s State Bank in 2005, moving the Bank to Salina and re-branding as BANK VI.
