Blue Eagle Credit Union is headquartered in Roanoke and is the 37th largest credit union in the state of Virginia. It is also the 1,217th largest credit union in the nation. It was established in 1948 and as of September of 2022, it had grown to 63 employees and 17,214 members at 6 locations. Blue Eagle Credit Union has an A+ health rating.
Blue Eagle CU is open to the residents, active employees, community service volunteers, registered students, and church members in the site listed towns, cities, and counties of Virginia. My wife and I would like to commend the BECU Fraud Department for their erudition and expedient handling of credit fraud and possible fraud. Last month our card was hacked and the Fraud Team contacted us with in minutes of the fraud being perpetuated and handled the situation professionally and expediently to save us from this feckless form of crime. And today within seconds I received a text from this same keen Fraud Department to a charge that was larger than what I usually make. I answered the question in the text and in seconds the debit was made possible and all was well. Thank you BECU Fraud Team.
I have been a member here for almost 17 years.
They were fine at first.. then they became Blue Eagle Credit Union and now its all crap.. here are a couple of the highlights.
Number 1 - if your card gets blocked for any reason OUTSIDE of business hours, there is nothing that can be done until the following business day... if its a Friday then you have to wait till Monday. Unacceptable. 6 pm on a Friday night and I cant touch my money until Monday...
Number 2 - I have my car loan here... 5 days before the payment was due they took the amount out of my savings. I don't have auto payments activated.
Number 3 - my credit card. I can't see any type of statement from my credit card with my online banking. Nothing. I have to go into the bank
Number 4 - a couple years ago one of the employees, apparently, called "me" and got permission to make a change to my account. once it was discovered that they had talked about my account to some unknown person they DID fix the change.. however would not waive the fees resulting from this issue.
Usually the employees are nice so i'll give them that, and the fees are pretty reasonable... but this is just pathetic... Looking for a new bank
I have been banking here since July of 2016 and have had my card declined several times when I had enough available balance to cover my purchases. Also there is no actual customer service after hours, they use a third party company that offers absolutely no help. Even the day after my direct deposit hits my account I am unable to use my card or an atm. I have switched to member one now and I am much happier!
I have been banking with what used to be Roanoke Postal Employee Federal Credit Union since I was 14 years old. Back then the bank was like family...then they switched to Blue Eagle Credit Union and it hasn't been the same. Most recently I decided to finance a new car with them upon approval they mailed out a $23k check via regular mail (who mails out a check for that amount regular mail)?!?!? The next day I went to the dealership and they offered me a better deal if I financed through them. I decided to take the deal assuming the check had been overnighted and when received it could simply be overnighted back to their office. I was so wrong! Now 10 days later the check still has not come in the mail. I called Blue Eagle to try to put a stop payment on the check and they have refused stating that I would be responsible for any interest that accrues. When I asked them why they didn't send the check certified they indicated they would refuse to pay for such an expense. I told her that it should be an option to offer customers for instances such as this. Now due to their incompetence and/or greediness I am responsible for any interest that accrues?!? After 23 years with this bank I am sorry to say I am done! UNACCEPTABLE!!!
